Xiaomi Group’s strategic upgrade, the whole ecology of people and cars continues to adhere to hard-core innovation
Recently, Xiaomi 澎湃 OS and Xiaomi 14 series new product launch conference was held in Beijing. Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, announced that the group strategy has been officially upgraded to "the whole ecology of people and cars", and released six new AIoT products including Xiaomi 澎湃 OS operating system, digital flagship Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi Watch S3 and Xiaomi TV S Pro 85.
Lei Jun said that in the past few years, Xiaomi has been breaking through cognition and changing its growth. Today, Xiaomi’s new strategy "The Whole Ecology of People, Cars and Houses" is people-centered and organically integrates "The Whole Ecology of People, Cars and Houses". The key to undertaking the new strategy is Xiaomi 澎湃 OS.
After 13 years of exploration and 7 years of research and development, Xiaomi 澎湃 OS has more than 5,000 engineers involved in the bottom-level reconstruction of the system, making a public base for the future tens of billions of devices and tens of billions of connections. Lei Jun said that the strategic goal of Xiaomi in the new 10 years (2020-2030) is to continuously invest in the underlying core technologies. According to reports, in 2022 alone, Xiaomi’s R&D investment will reach 16.2 billion yuan, and the total R&D investment will exceed 20 billion yuan in 2023. Up to now, Xiaomi technology research and development has entered 12 technical fields, including 5G mobile communication technology, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. At the same time, based on intelligent manufacturing, it has entered as many as 99 sub-sectors such as robots, unmanned factories and smart electric vehicles.
Lei Jun said that in the face of a new round of technological and industrial changes, Xiaomi will continue to focus on innovation, strive to "die hard" hard-core technology, and actively practice social responsibility.
In terms of industrial chain empowerment, Xiaomi takes the lead in promoting the innovation level of the industrial chain, focusing on strengthening the chain and overcoming key core technologies, and truly driving domestic supply chain enterprises to go global. Take high-end domestic screens as an example. As early as 2021, Xiaomi set up a joint laboratory with Huaxing Optoelectronics to tackle core technical problems side by side. In 2023, with the in-depth cooperation between the two parties, C7 and C8 luminescent materials have excellent product performance for two consecutive generations, which are respectively mounted on high-end flagships such as Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Series.
In addition, Xiaomi also actively undertakes social responsibilities and promotes social progress. Among them, in ESG, Xiaomi announced its commitment to be carbon neutral in 2040, that is, by 2040, Xiaomi’s existing business will be carbon neutral in its own operation and 100% will use renewable energy. In terms of corporate public welfare, Xiaomi Public Welfare Foundation continues to practice public welfare in education, scientific research personnel training, basic research and development through various means such as helping the poor, Xiaomi Scholarship, Xiaomi Sports Scholarship, Xiaomi Young Scholars and Xiaomi Innovation Joint Fund.
Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi Automobile is expected to be officially listed in the first half of 2024, and the strategy of "people, cars and homes are all ecological" will soon complete the final puzzle of comprehensive landing.
